About the speakers

David Rowe, Ph.D

Director of Neuropsychology at United Assessment

Dr. David Rowe is a proficient researcher and statistician with a BS in Psychology, Neuroscience, and Economics from Trinity College and MA and PhD in Clinical Psychology from Columbia University. He brings teaching experience as adjunct professor for three Master's level and four Bachelor's level courses. His research experience includes Principal Investigator for the continuation of a thirteen-year longitudinal study. He brings extensive experience in advising, collaborating across departments, and working in multi-disciplinary teams. He is the founder of United Assessment, a group practice specializing in high-quality psychological assessments, including psychoeducational testing, psychodiagnostic testing, and neuropsychological testing for adults, adolescents, and children in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Washington D.C., Florida, California, Arizona, and Montana.

Allison Kleinman, LCSW

Founder of Future Centered Care

Allison Kleinman has been working since 2009 as an advocate for people with I/DD and mental health challenges and their families. She is focused on and dedicated to improving employment, housing and future planning options for this community. Allison is the founding director of The Jack and Shirley Silver Center for Special Needs at the Marlene Meyerson JCC in Manhattan, where her connection and commitment to this population began. Allison’s approach has been to develop individualized paths for all people to connect to community and realize a sense of belonging. She is inspired by the incredible parent partners, self advocates and champions in this field and understands the need for collaboration and persistence to improve outcomes for the future. Allison received a B.S. in psychology from the University of Florida and a master's degree in clinical social work from Fordham University.

Amanda Fialk, PhD, LCSW, LICSW

Partner and Chief Clinical Officer, The Dorm

Dr. Amanda Fialk is the Partner and Chief Clinical Officer at The Dorm, a young adult treatment community with locations in New York City, NY and Washington, D.C. Amanda received her master’s degree and a doctoral degree in Social Work from Wurzweiler School of Social Work where her dissertation focused on the clinical implications of countertransference in the treatment of addiction. She completed psychoanalytic training at The Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy in New York City. Prior to joining The Dorm in 2011, Amanda was the Program Director for New York Center For Living and Flatbush Addiction Treatment Center. Amanda has specialized training in DBT, CBT, addiction and co-occurring disorders, eating disorders, family therapy, EMDR and motivational interviewing. Amanda believes that clients and their families need to be treated holistically and from a strengths-based perspective and has seen firsthand the healing power of the therapeutic alliance.

She is a member of the National Association of Social Workers and the New York Academy of Medicine and an adjunct professor at Wurzweiler School of Social Work.
